ComplexChaos: Reimagining Human Cooperation with AI

Imagine a world where technology, powered by the latest advances in science and behavioral psychology, serves as a force for good, enhancing our well-being and steering us toward a more harmonious existence. At Niremia Collective, our mission is to bring this vision to life by investing in startups that develop innovative mental health solutions, promote new ways of working, support healthy aging, and advance human-centric urban design.

The Paris Climate Accord, a landmark agreement adopted by 196 nations to combat climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, took ten years of broken talks to finalize, becoming one of the most complex multi-party negotiations in human history.

Between endless meetings, conflicting priorities, and the constant struggle to reach consensus, human cooperation is inherently messy. But what if AI could help us understand each other better, find common ground and unite everyone to solve the most complex problems?

That’s the vision of ComplexChaos, a startup on a mission to help humanity cooperate at scale,

The company is developing a sophisticated platform that combines passive listening, AI-guided interviews, agent-guided decision-making frameworks, and smart documents.

“We live in epic times, with the exponential acceleration of technology and its impact in the job market, education, health, and the looming degradation of the environment, we require new tools to build planetary resilience and we want to play a pivotal role in scaling human cooperation for social good” , says Tomy Lorsch, the CEO of ComplexChaos. “We're not here to automate people out of their jobs. We're here to enhance the collective intelligence of groups and organizations.”

As we navigate the challenges and opportunities of the next industrial revolution, supercharged by political, social, and economic shifts, there has never been a greater need for comprehensive solutions that help us bridge our views and work better together.  While productivity and collaboration tools like Slack and Google Docs can effectively move teamwork toward a shared goal, they often fall short when it comes to cooperation amid conflicting priorities and agendas.

ComplexChaos, currently in beta, is part of the emerging cohort of startups developing AI-mediated cooperation, consensus-building, and collective intelligence tools. The global decision-making software market is valued at $6.2 billion, with a directly addressable market of $4.2 billion, according to industry reports.

ComplexChaos wants to accelerate decision-making processes using cutting-edge technology, enabling smarter and more efficient cooperation for organizations and policymakers. The AI-powered platform will allow users to discover the global set of constraints shaping the decision space, identify feasible solutions that satisfy all stakeholders, and facilitate iterative negotiation to resolve conflicts and build consensus using AI agents.

Organizations that rely on consensus-based decision-making not only achieve goals faster, but can boost employee engagement, and level the playing field for underrepresented voices. In fact, employees who participate in that process are 80% more likely to support its implementation and are 90% more satisfied with their job, according to research.

From dealing with internal conflicts to change management and product development, the potential use cases for ComplexChaos are endless, says Lorsch. For instance, one of the early customers is using the platform to accelerate alignment for a coalition of more than 100 global organizations working towards regeneration of the West Amazon rainforest.

Lorsch is a graduate from the AI for Good Institute at Stanford University, organized by Impact Genius, and a serial entrepreneur with deep knowledge of enterprise customers and non-profits. His previous company, Findasense, which provided customer experience and multichannel solutions to corporations like Lenovo and The Coca-Cola Company, was acquired in 2022 by the global leader in customer experience management. T

The company’s investors and advisory board members include some big names in tech, including the co-founders at WhatsApp, OpenGov, Mural, and the co-founder of Google Assistant Gokhan Baklr, who designed for ComplexChaos an algorithm powering the multi-agent system for stakeholder facilitation.

“What sets ComplexChaos apart is its focus on multi-round negotiation, preserving each stakeholder's individual voice and priorities, “ Baklr wrote in a Linkedin post.  “By creating a safe space for iterative dialogue and compromise, we aim to find solutions that respect the needs and boundaries of all participants.”

We believe that ComplexChaos is poised to revolutionize how organizations navigate complex decision-making processes in today’s fractured world, ultimately leading to a more empathetic and cooperative environment for all, a mission Niremia Collective is proud to support.
